|Francesc d'Assis Diéguez i Foguet was born on June 2, 1902 in Barcelona, Ronda Sant Pere 58, 3, 1. ª. On June 7, was christened in the parish of Sant Pere de les Puel•les.|
Dedicated to the trade, was the representative for the Spanish state of the Compagnie de l'Etablissement Fermiere Vichy Thermal Spa, the prestigious firm of water and salts.
In 1936 he was single and shared the home that had belonged to his parents --died in 1916 and 1924- with his older sister Mercè and younger sister Josefa, both also single.
At the beginning of the religious persecution of July 1936, Father Jaume Solà i Llonch, vicar of the Crypt of the Sagrada Família, had to leave the floor of Mrs. Anna Biern in Bailen street, 95-97, where he lived and was known. He called family friends, and Francesc only said yes.
On July 24, Francesc d'Assis went to pick Father Llonch and hid him in his house. A few days later, on 19 August, Diéguez family and the priest witnessed what happened at No. 7 the same street: they had discovered seven monks of Montserrat, which were taken to Pedralbes and killed. It was usual when priests were, in spite of which the brothers Diéguez stuck to hide in his family home to Father Jaume, who only came once for a few minutes.
Finally, a patrol pursuers submitted September 16, 1936 in his apartment, with two sisters, Josefa and Mercè and the refugee priest. They waited to come Francesc d'Assis, and when he arrived, the doorman told him not to go up, warning of the situation. "I do not let my sisters," he exclaimed. And rose. They were going to take the priest, he and his older sister, Mercè. The younger sister, Josefa, was offered in her place, but the patrol shouted: "For you did not come! We come for that who teaches religion in the Puel•les and that who went for the priest " They took all three.
After spending endless humiliations, hunger and thirst, the night of 19 to September 20, 1936 Francesc d'Assis and Mercè were killed in Can Tunis. He was shot in the genitals. He was 34.
His body was admitted to the Hospital Clinic at 1 am on September 20, with the record 22-B, next to his sister. Some relatives, Antoni Porta i Cotarua, Rosa Porta i Gómez y Wenceslau Coll i Torres, identified them, were picked up and buried in the cemetery of Montjuïc, in a niche in road Sant Jordi, group 7.
