Verges: The last concert of Lluís Llach, with which he closes forty years in the stages. Forty years of love to Catalonia, expressed through his art and lived according to his personal, social and political convictions. There have been many people that, like Llach, they have lived the love to Catalonia like one of the basic loves of their life, that it has brought them to giving to their fellow citizens -and with them, to all the men of all nations- the best of them, the intimate poetry that bursts forth of the heart. People of every kind, which is humanized in himself and humanizes the neighbor with the only living typical of the human being: the love, which he shares with the angels and with God. God is the source and, how Benedicts XVI has remembered wisely, He himself is love.
If Llach had been born, for example, in the United States or Spain, he would be recognized like one of the best musicians of the world. But he was born in Catalonia, in a country and in a language without a state that defends them and puts them in the world, on the contrary. How Llach said in the concert of Verges, we do not defend any ethnic group, but we are some people of step; and we have not won any important war. And it is better like this: we are Catalan because we want to be it and Catalonia is a synonym of peace.
Llach saw off serenely and with emotion of his, who we are. Of forty years of tenderness and of love. And he makes it in the zenith of his artistic career, when he is the best musician, the best singer and especially the best composer. Llach and his band have been, are, like artists, great professionals, standing out like this from the mediocrity that surrounds us: artists who do not have anything to say, politicians who negotiate airports, engineers who make tunnels for Barcelona, employers who make speculations and not factories, etc.
Llach, for our generation, has been the pilot of the ship to Ithaca, the journey of the life, who can only be filled in by the love.
Withdrawn to the peak. I have liked, to eternalize the present! The ship turns to climb towards the coast where it is Ithaca. We do not see yet, Ithaca, but the pilot, Llach, yes.
