The falcon that nests in the tower of Saint Bartholomew of the Sagrada Família has successfully raised it only to its chick. Almost 50% shared the tasks of the nest with his mate, but she died on April 21, 2010 due to an impact. Fell with a broken wing and an open wound and thought of something similar to what happened to Gaudí after being hit by the tram. Passersby called the guards, but it was already 19:30 and replied that at that time could not go to pick up the animal. In the end, some citizens took it to a veterinary clinic where, because it is a protected species, called back to the guards, they reiterated that they could not take over until the next day. Some people went to a veterinary clinic specialized in exotic animals, and had to pay a visit and hospitalization of female falcon.
The couple had three young birds, two females and one male -the lowest. Authorities moved thesisters, and was just the little bugger male has been bred successfully only by his father.
Historically, falcons nesting on the towers of Barcelona, but they disappeared in 1973 for hunting. Reintroduced to the city in 1999, in 2004 this couple nested in the tower of Saint Bartholomew, which have been born since then 16 chicks.
We wish our dear Sagrada Família’s hawk, which has been so well behaved as a father, a happy 2011 and this spring found a new partner.
