Vian: Gaudí has reconciled art and Catholicism

"Gaudí was a great artist and a great Christian. A model, hence he is in process of canonization in the Catholic Church", concluded Giovanni Maria Vian, editor of L'Osservatore Romano, the conference "The time of Gaudí in Catalonia and Italy", which took place at the Embassy Spanish to the Holy See on December 14, 2011. Vian said "The Catholic art, unlike Protestant, Muslim or Jew, has a deep, is founded on the Incarnation. Therefore, the violent persecutions against Catholic Church were against people and against images ". And then spread explaining how Modernity involves the breakdown of culture and religion and, specifically, between art and religion. "Gaudí, he say, is the man who has reconciled substantially in Modernity, with a modern answer, art and Catholicism, joining his Christian life to art. For this reason, the work of Gaudí is an emblem of the New Evangelization.”
