A worker and Christian family

At home, Anton received an education and some coherent examples with the Piarist school. The Gaudí i Cornet lived in the street Sant Joan, n. 4, in a modest hut. They educated their sons in the laboriousness and in the Christian mercy. Anton learned the virtues of the manual work and of the direct relation with the customers: responsibility well made work, creativity, etc. The father, Francesc, combined the profession of boilermaker in Reus with that of farmer in the Mas de la Calderera and the other five allotments that he had in Riudoms, with the small charge of measures fitter of the Town Council of Reus and with temporary works in the textile factories. He counted one alone apprentice and the help of his sons Francesc and Anton, who learned his profession. It was frequent, towards five of the morning, the step of the Viaticum in front of home, halfway between the Parish and the Hospital. The women who in that time went to the New Steam to start the day saw invariably Francesc to go out to the window of his hut with a little light switched on in homage to the Blessed Sacrament. The mother, Antònia, was a very religious woman, who influenced actively on the Christian education of her sons.
