July 2011: The Crypt, opened

The feast of the Our Lady of Carmen, July 16, 2011, the Crypt has been reopened, closed since the April 19 fire that caused the destruction of the sacristy and the smoky walls and vaults of the Crypt. In recent months, have been meticulously cleaned, shining now better than before. In addition, they have installed smoke detectors and security video cameras. Fr. Lluís Bonet has chosen this event to reopen the Crypt of the Sagrada Familia for the rests of its architect, Gaudi, remains on a stone floor of the chapel of this title. The image of the Virgin is back and is a work of Jaume Busquets, a sculptor trained in his youth with Gaudí and chosen by the architect to complete the Nativity Façade. Gaudí's tomb is again accessible to the devotees. They can become close to pray privately, to ask his intercession or to offer their mite in the bank to help the process of beatification of the great architect. The Associació pro Beatificació d'Antoni Gaudí made a flowers wreath. The Crypt, dedicated to the cult, is outside the tourist route to the ticket entitles entry of 12.50 euros.
