The religiousness during the 19th.

The Church did not renounce to the great processions. More that acts of mercy, they were demonstrations of public presence, of affirmation of masses and of framing of the Catholics faithful in the face of the rest of the society. Frequently they needed public protection and there were arguments. On the other hand, all the festivities of the calendar continued being religious, out of the carnival and the celebrations parallel to Christmas and to Easter. In accordance with the romantic spirit of the period, the religiousness was based on by the feeling religious, excited and gratified through the personal devotion. Thus, the books that were edited were in a basic way apologetic and prayer books, without excessive theological, liturgical or biblical deepening (the only editions of the New Will in all the 19th century were made, the 1832, 1835, 1836 and 1888, by the protestants). Among the more spread works, those of the father Claret highlights, some of which published in the publishing house "Herederos de la Viuda Pla", property of Josep Maria Bocabella, and that attained thousands of copies. Thus, the Catalan book of any genre more spread along the 19th century is his "right and safe way to arrive to the heaven", turned up in 1848 and which attained the 400.000 copies. The model of Christian that it proposes will carry all the life of Gaudí and has arrived until the council Vatican II, not to say until our days. A layman of weekly or bimonthly confession, mass and communion every day if is been able, daily rosary, devotion to Mary, to the Holy Heart and to several saints, and with a spiritual confessor/director to whom was completely submissive. The Christian life consists of the life of family -with duties of state for each member- and of the personal mercy, in fight against the vice, the blasphemy, the sin and the devil. This personal mercy is carried out through a net of daily devotion (rosary, prayer of the morning and of the night, communion and assistance to mass whenever is been able, blessing of the table, angelus of morning and of evening, examination of consciousness, etc), weekly (Sunday mass, confession, etc), monthly (the first Fridays, etc) and annual (days of recess and ninth days for the solemnities of Virgin, saint Joseph and other saints, etc), about the Christian one weaves the rest of the life.
